As the amount of data stored in a LIMS increases what the end user really needs is a simple, straight forward way of getting at the data they are interested in. The new SQL*LIMS Ad Hoc Query Tool, a Web 2.0 enabled ad-hoc reporting tool, gives the end user a powerful, intuitive and easy to use interface to define a search for just the data they are interested in and then make that data available through a number of different channels such as web feeds, export to Excel, an interactive time line view all available on a number of different platforms including the Apple® iPhone®.
Once you have created a search that returns the information you need, in this example all the samples that have a modified results, the system automatically exposes the results in a number of different formats. Here we can see the search output viewed using the push technology of web feeds. Viewers for these feeds are available on just about computing platform from Windows desktop computers to new mobile computer platforms.
Mobile computing platforms offer a powerful system for taking advantage of data formerly locked away in corporate databases.
